Heineken has signed an agreement with the Costa Rican Florida Ice and Farm Company (Fifco) to substantially expand its position in Central America. The transaction amounts to 3.2 billion dollars (2.7 billion euros).

The group will acquire full ownership of Heineken Panama and take a 75 % stake in Nicaragua Brewing Holding. In addition, Heineken is buying the remaining 75 % of Distribuidora La Florida (Fifco’s beverage, food and retail arm, with more than 300 stores in Costa Rica and operations in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras).
