France wants to ban the import of food products containing residues of pesticides that are banned in the European Union. A decree introducing stricter controls is expected today, although France still needs to get the green light from the European Commission.
Zero tolerance
According to Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, the new decree will prevent the import of products containing residues of mancozeb, glufosinate, thiophanate-methyl and carbendazim, among others. Agriculture Minister Annie Genevard wants to enforce European health and environmental standards on imported products, Euractiv reports.
