Aldi is opening five new stores in the United Kingdom in just two days. The expansion is part of the plan to grow from 1,070 to 1,500 British stores.
To 1,500 supermarkets
On 11 December, stores will open in London, Northallerton, Pershore and Uxbridge. Yate (near Bristol) will follow one da later. The five openings will create around 200 jobs.
Aldi says the openings demonstrate the scale and momentum of its growth plans in the UK: the chain is working towards reaching the milestone of 1,500 stores in the country. In 2025, the retailer had already invested 650 million pounds (760 million euros) in new openings and renovations – a further 1.6 billion pounds (1.9 billion euros) has been set aside for the next two years.
Jon Neale, managing director of real estate at Aldi UK, said: “Every new store opening is exciting, but opening five stores in 24 hours, just before Christmas, will make a huge difference to customers in each of these areas. It reflects the demand we are seeing across the UK and the scale of our ambition as we continue to grow.”
