Aldi is celebrating its 50th anniversary in Belgium this year. The retailer is kicking off the anniversary year with permanent price reductions on more than 50 products.
Started in 1976
2026 is a celebratory year for Aldi in Belgium: the discounter opened its first store there in 1976 in the town of Geel in the Kempen region. Marketing campaigns in the coming weeks will therefore focus on this fiftieth anniversary. To start with, the company is offering discounts, extra promotions, and permanent price reductions on more than fifty private label products in various categories, from fresh salmon and chocolate milk to air fresheners and dog food.
The retailer announced this on its website and social media. Today, Aldi has more than 445 stores in Belgium, which means that every Belgian can find an Aldi supermarket less than a fifteen-minute drive away. More than 80% of Belgians shop at the discounter, which also has seven regional headquarters in the country and employs more than 8,500 people.
