In 2025, Aldi and Albert Heijn were the biggest winners in terms of market share in the Dutch market, while Jumbo continued to lose ground. This is according to new figures from NielsenIQ, which, however, do not take all supermarket chains into account.

Last year, Aldi’s market share in the Netherlands grew from 5.3% to 5.9%. With growth of 0.6 percentage points, the discounter is relatively speaking the biggest winner of the past year. But market leader Albert Heijn also continued to grow, with 0.5 percentage points from 37.7% to 38.2%. The food retailer has been growing faster than the market for seven years in a row. The Dutch number two, Jumbo, which earlier this week stated that its market share was around 20%, ended up at 19.9% according to NielsenIQ, a loss of 0.4 percentage points.
