The Brussels-based e-bike brand Cowboy is now definitively in French hands. The French group ReBirth has completed the acquisition and is investing €15 million. Founder and CEO Adrien Roose is leaving the company.
Major restructuring
The deal marks the end of Cowboy’s independence, which has been teetering on the brink of bankruptcy in recent months. ReBirth, owner of bicycle brands such as Peugeot, Gitane, and Solex, announced the acquisition back in September, but the completion took longer than planned. Nearly 8,000 private crowdfunders first had to agree to see their combined investments of 10.6 million euros virtually evaporate.
