HMV is actively looking for locations to open more stores in Belgium. The first two stores in the country are performing so well, that managing director Phil Halliday has confirmed his company is looking to open more Belgian stores.
More to come
Halliday is “very pleased” with the performance of the stores in Wijnegem (near Antwerp) and Brussels, he told local newspaper Gazet van Antwerpen. The chain now wants to open more stores and is already actively searching for locations. The CEO would like the next location to be on Antwerp’s main shopping street, Meir.
The chain’s first Belgian store opened its doors in Wijnegem at the end of 2023, a store in Brussels followed in April 2024. The stores offers records and CDs, but also pop culture merchandise. In particular, Pokémon cards and vinyl records are particularly popular in Belgium, Halliday notes.
