Following the opening of its first shop in Wallonia last June, the home décor chain Søstrene Grene is taking another step forward with the opening of a shop in the L’Esplanade shopping centre in Louvain-La-Neuve.
Expansion potential
Danish “hygge” is coming to Louvain-La-Neuve: on 5 September, Søstrene Grene will open its second Walloon shop in the student town, following the opening of its first in Namur. The new shop will sell the full, extensive range, including interior decoration and small furniture, leisure items, toys, kitchenware, stationery and much more. It is designed according to the Retail for the Senses concept, which stimulates the senses and takes shoppers on a true journey of discovery.
While many home and decoration chains are struggling – think of the bankruptcy of Casa, the recent protection procedure for Leen Bakker or the restructuring at Maisons du Monde – the Danish retailer is doing very well. According to CEO Mikkel Grene, this has a lot to do with combining a sensory shopping experience with accessible prices. The chain aims to have 500 stores by 2027. In an interview with RetailDetail, the CEO also pointed to further potential for expansion in Belgium.
