The Italian competition authority AGCM has fined Apple 98.6 million euros for abusing its dominant position in the mobile app market.
Double standards
According to the regulator, Apple exercises “absolute dominance” over third-party app developers. The AGCM says Apple violated European regulations by imposing stricter privacy conditions on third-party developers than on its own services. The AGCM launched its investigation in May 2023, focusing on the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) system, ET reports.
