Mercadona is the retailer with the highest customer loyalty in Europe. The Spanish chain accounts for 37% of its customers’ total spending. This puts the company significantly ahead of E.Leclerc and Tesco, among others.
Under pressure
Mercadona tops the European ranking of supermarket chains based on their “share of wallet,” or the share they represent in their customers’ total spending on consumer goods. This is according to a report by NielsenIQ. This indicator shows the extent to which customers are loyal to “their” main supermarket, and therefore goes beyond market share.
