Top executive Fernando Fernandez sees “pockets of mediocrity” at Unilever, and the CEO is now cracking down on them: the brand manufacturer is replacing about a quarter of its two hundred top managers this year.
“Inconsistent performance”
“Are they good enough? Are they at the level that Unilever deserves?”, Fernandez spoke sharply at the Barclays Global Consumer Staples Conference in Boston. The CEO is clearly going for the hard line and ditto communication. According to him, Unilever’s leadership must become “the benchmark in the market”.
