On Wednesday morning, Jumbo opened a new supermarket in Dilsen-Stokkem. This is the Dutch chain’s seventh store opening in Belgium this year, bringing the total to 44 stores.
Local partnerships
Following store openings in Maasmechelen, Genk, and Beringen earlier this year, this is already the 13th supermarket for the retail chain in the province of Limburg. It is the seventh and final opening of the year for the retailer in Belgium. The spacious 1,563 m² store is operated by entrepreneur Emanuel Vanhemelen.
As in other branches, Jumbo is highlighting local partnerships here, with 20 local suppliers from the area: including potatoes and onions from Hoevewinkel Diepbeek, meat from Ekoelogisch, artisanal ice cream from Mario’s Ice, fresh bread and pastries from Bakkerij Van Leeuw, homemade hot dishes from Rent Your Chef, cookies from Melk en Suiker, creamy cheeses from De Melk Kan, and fresh eggs from Het Ei Land.
“Jumbo continues to grow in Belgium, and in Limburg we can see how well our offering meets customer expectations,” says Peter Isaac, director of Jumbo Belgium. “With the opening in Dilsen-Stokkem, we are taking another important step in our regional anchoring. We believe in long-term local connections, both with our customers and with our producers, and look forward to turning even more Limburg residents into true Jumbo fans.”
