Nestlé has expanded its infant formula recall to 37 countries. In addition to virtually all European countries, the products appear to have been sold in Brazil, Uzbekistan, China, Australia, and South Africa, among others.
Preventive measure
The food giant recalled the first batches at the beginning of December, but the recall is now expanding to all continents. According to Nestlé, a routine inspection at a factory in The Netherlands found Bacillus cereus, a bacterium that can produce the toxin cereulide and cause severe vomiting and diarrhea in babies.
