On 8 October, Jumbo will open a new supermarket in the centre of Beringen (in the Belgian province of Limburg). The store will be located in a building where Carrefour and Aldi were previously located.
New interpretation
Work on the new supermarket is in full swing, the supermarket chain reports on its social media channels. The store should open on 8 October, in a building where a Carrefour used to be before the franchisee threw in the towel last February – after only a year. Before that, Aldi had operated a supermarket at the same address for several years.
The municipality is relieved that there is a solution for the property. “We are obviously happy that after the departure of Carrefour, the old Aldi site will be given a new use with a supermarket that is not yet located on our territory”, mayor Thomas Vints told Het Belang van Limburg. “At the time of Aldi’s move, we pleaded to get another supermarket on that same site, so we are happy that at the beginning of October our residents will be able to store there again.”
