Belgian supermarket chain Delhaize looks back on a successful second edition of Wonderfood Adventure, a festival that introduces consumers to innovative, healthy and sustainable food.
Focus on healthy, local, and sustainable
More than 10,000 visitors – including many families with children – came to Brussels Expo’s Hall 3 last weekend to visit 65 stands and participate in more than fifty workshops with ‘food personalities’ such as Pascale Naessens, Pierre Marcolini, Sven Ornelis, Jelle Beeckman, Nicolas Guggenbuhl, Sofie Dumont, and Julien Lapraille.
In the four central experience zones of Wonderfood Adventure – oven, pantry, refrigerator and vegetable garden – visitors could discover and taste innovative healthy, local, and sustainable food products. These included hybrid meat products, kombucha, new meat substitutes, protein-enriched foods and vitamin shots. Children were entertained with educational games and a quiz, while Julien Lieb and Puggy provided musical entertainment.
One notable stand was that of the Smart Gastronomy Lab at the University of Liège, with demonstrations on “food boosters”, fermented products, functional foods, space-inspired foods, and smart technologies.
With this festival, the retailer aims to reinforce its position as an expert in sustainable and healthy food. The day before the festival, Delhaize’s affiliated entrepreneurs also gathered in Hall 3 for a strategic meeting.
