By the end of this year, Amazon plans to get fresh food delivered to customers on the day of the order in 2,300 cities in the United States, in a head-on attack on Walmart, Kroger and Instacart.

Customers can order a wide range of food products through the new service, from fresh vegetables and dairy to meat and frozen foods. Amazon already delivered groceries through Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market, but now Prime members can combine their food purchases with other orders in one order. This will make grocery shopping easier, faster and more affordable, the retailer claims.
