Ahold Delhaize focuses on AI projects with impact

After various projects involving artificial intelligence in different areas, Ahold Delhaize is going to focus on a few major business processes. The retailer wants to be a “smart follower” on AI, CEO Frans Muller said.

Less fragmentation, more focus

In recent years, the Dutch retail group has already experimented with AI systems to combat food waste and algorithms that optimise logistics, reducting the number of kilometres driven by delivery vans for its online store Bol by 6 %. At a recent meeting in Bucharest, the company has nevertheless decided to go for less fragmentation and more focus, Muller told Dutch newspaper FD.
