“Wholesale crucial to Metro Group”

Facilitating the management structure and
having a more direct policy
are the intentions of the reformation of
management as announced by the Metro Group. As a result Metro Cash & Carry,
the wholesale subsidiary of the retailer, will be under direct supervision of
Olaf Koch, CEO of the whole company.

It also shows the importance Metro Group will
be attaching to Metro Cash & Carry from now on. “Metro Cash &
Carry is the engine and growth driver
of the Group and its significance is now
also reflected in the Management Board’s new structure”, said Olaf Koch.

Metro will be saying goodbye to Frans Muller,
who headed the wholesale department since 2002. Financial director Mark Frese
will be taking over responsibilities of Olaf Koch concerning Galeria Kaufhof,
Metro Properties and investment relations. Pieter Haas, new head of
Media-Saturn and responsible for Business Innovation, will also be managing IT
en Metro Systems.
