JBC and Walter Van Beirendonck are releasing a limited edition series of sweaters, made in Belgium from leftover yarn from previous productions and featuring a distinctive, graphic look. Sales will start exclusively in Antwerp and online.
Collector’s items
The previous partnership between designer Van Beirendonck and JBC dates back twelve years, but now they are joining forces again for what they call a “one-off, exclusive collaboration.” The “Future Friendly” capsule collection has a limited run of only 500 numbered sweaters. Each sweater is unique and made entirely from leftover yarn, carefully compiled from textile surplus from previous productions. This gives high-quality material a second life, without producing new raw materials.
The sweaters are also produced entirely locally in Belgium, giving the project a strong Belgian character, just in time for Belgian Fashion Week. The designs stand out for their colorful, graphic imagery. “With ‘Future Friendly,’ I wanted to create a collector’s item that radiates hope. The central image of the rising sun symbolizes a new beginning and a future full of possibilities. Each piece is unique and represents the optimistic vision that we want to share with JBC,” says Van Beirendonck.
The designer chose seven color combinations. Because leftover yarn was used, the exact shade may vary per sweater. The sweaters are unisex and available in sizes 6–12 years and XS–XL. The collection is exclusively available in the JBC store on Meir in Antwerp and online from Friday, October 10. There will be no new variants or additional editions.
