JYSK achieves record turnover of 2.16 billion

Scandinavian home improvement chain JYSK has achieved a record turnover of 2.16 billion euro: CEO Jan Bøgh is particularly happy with the strong growth in the number of customers.

6.7 million new online and offline customers

6.7 million new customers visited the JYSK stores (including 82 new stores) in the company’s financial year 2017/18: “We have once again proven that there is still a lot of potential in attracting more customers to our physical stores. Therefore the opening of new stores will continue to be an important part of our strategy, while simultaneously developing our online platform to offer our customers as many possibilities and as much flexibility as possible,” says Bøgh.

JYSK, with 1.249 stores in twenty countries, continues to invest in all parts of the company. Last year, the chain introduced a new store concept and improved the online customer journey. The Danish company also invested heavily in its logistic infrastructure: the expansion of the distribution centre in Uldum in Denmark is ready and a new distribution centre in Bulgaria will soon be operational.

The CEO however saw a threat in the markets in which it is most successful: “One of the reasons JYSK is doing well is of course that we see a growing economy in the countries where our stores are located. This also means that the unemployment rates are very low, and there is a lot of competition to attract the best employees. This means that we need to keep focus on recruiting and developing our employees to ensure that JYSK is an attractive employer, and that we are able to retain the great people that have been part of making our success,” he concluded.
