Habitat continues its comeback with its first online launches outside France, to French-speaking customers in Belgium and Switzerland Wednesday. It is the first step in a European expansion strategy driven by the Vente-unique.com group.
Addressing new generations
After its bankruptcy in 2023, Habitat experienced a successful relaunch in France with the launch of a web shop by Vente-unique.com in June 2024. Since then, it has already sold 66,246 products there, pushing sales in the past six months up to five million euros, the company reports to LSA. Now, the furniture and decoration specialist wants to continue building its presence in Europe: its offer of more than 1,100 references has been made available to French-speaking customers in Belgium and Switzerland this Wednesday.
However, this is only the first stage in a European expansion plan. The brand wants to appeal to a new generation of consumers who are sensitive to sustainable, aesthetic and accessible design. Habitat is already preparing to open new websites in other European countries, in more languages. The focus will first be on the largest markets, such as Germany and Spain, then the retailer plans to expand to other regions and local marketplaces. Owner Vente-unique.com, with its operations in eleven European countries, is well versed in the differences in payment, delivery and purchasing behaviour.
