Reeborn, the second-hand platform launched by Carrefour Belgium in 2023, ceased operations on the last day of 2025. The retailer hoped to attract a new and younger audience with the app.
“On hold”
Carrefour launched Reeborn in Belgium in the fall of 2023, but now the Reeborn app has been removed from the Google Play store or the Apple App store, and the carrefour.reeborn.be webpage simply states “We’ll be back soon.” “The platform was discontinued on 31 December, and customers were informed”, spokeswoman Regine Van Tomme confirmed to RetailDetail. “We are still looking into a few things, but for now, these activities are on hold.”
The app allowed consumers to buy and sell second-hand items. Users could also find a selection of “best deals” with remaining stock from Carrefour stores. Carrefour rewarded each transaction with bonus points. The retailer hoped to attract a new and younger audience and build loyalty among existing customers. To put the platform in the spotlight, Carrefour opened a physical Reeborn pop-up store in Ixelles in April, where individuals could choose to increase the sales opportunities for their products by displaying them.
