McCain subsidiary Van Geloven, most famous for its snack brands Mora and Van Dobben, intends to close three of its six production plants in Belgium and the Netherlands. This will cost 142 jobs.
“Remain competitive”
Van Geloven intends to concentrate production of its snacks at three production sites in the Netherlands, the company said in a press release. Three production sites will close next years: two in the Netherlands (in Wijk bij Duurstede and Cuijk) and one in Belgium (Mol). This morning, the company launched the formal consultation process with the relevant works councils and informed its employees.
The planned reorganisation affects 142 employees: 67 Dutch and 75 Belgian. The plans are aimed at ensuring the snack manufacturer’s long-term growth: “With the proposed concentration of our production sites, we are securing a solid foundation needed to remain competitive in a rapidly changing market with increasing inflation. This step helps us to strengthen our market position and allows us to grow and exploit new opportunities”, Commercial Director Walter van de Ven said.
With a turnover of 300 million euros and over 1,100 employees across six locations, Van Geloven is the largest producer of snacks in the Netherlands and Belgium.
