Price-sensitive consumers are buying less expensive chocolate and snacks, and are more often opting for smaller packages. This is weighing on the volumes and profits of Mondelez, the manufacturer of Oreo, Milka, and LU.
Significantly higher prices
Mondelez International saw its turnover rise by 5.9% in the third quarter to 9.744 billion dollars (8.4 billion euros), but this was solely due to substantial price increases. Sales volumes fell by 7.5 percentage points in Europe, the company’s largest market, and by 1.8 percentage points in North America.
