Carrefour has a new and powerful shareholder: the French shipping family Saadé, which has major interests in Brazil. This ensures the retailer a stable shareholder base.
400 million euros
The Saadé family, which owns the Marseillaise shipping company CMA CGM, has acquired a 4 % stake in Carrefour’s capital. That represents an investment of nearly 400 million euros, the retailer said in a press release. The family thus becomes the company’s second-largest shareholder, after the Houzé family (which owns the Galeries Lafayette and which holds 9.5 % of the Carrefour capital).
