Dutch online supermarkets such as Picnic and Flink must now adhere to the collective labor agreement for regular supermarkets in the Netherlands. This ruling on appeal puts the cost and revenue model of the grocery delivery services in jeopardy.
No logistics or technology companies
“Companies that sell online supermarket products and then physically collect, sort, and deliver those products to homes are engaged in the operation of a (virtual) supermarket,” stated the Arnhem-Leeuwarden Court of Appeal, thereby confirming previous rulings.
