Zalando is facing a strike at its logistics center in Erfurt, Germany. Employees are demanding better working conditions, but the fashion platform is reportedly unwilling to negotiate a new collective labor agreement.
Trade union points to Zalando’s high profits
The German trade union Verdi is demanding that Zalando apply the regional collective agreements for the retail and mail order sectors in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia. Here, wages for warehouse workers are more than 10% higher than those currently paid by the fashion company. On top of that, there are higher allowances, shorter weekly working hours, collective agreement pension schemes, and other improvements. But according to the union, Zalando is unwilling to negotiate.
