Spanish apparel retailer Cortefiel marks its 80th anniversary this year. After elaborate festivities, the company embarks on a new adventure: setting up self-owned shops in Mexico.
Dressing Lyndon B. Johnson and Columbo
To celebrate its birthday, the octogenarian retailer rolls out a programme that spans in‑store initiatives, cultural projects and social collaborations. For instance, an exhibition of the brand’s historical advertisements will take place in Madrid in October. The exhibition traces the brand’s milestones, from its pioneering factory producing one shirt per minute, to the 1960s, when the brand expanded to the United States, dressing figures as diverse as president Lyndon B. Johnson and TV detective Columbo.
