eBay has acquired second-hand platform Tise. That marketplace for secondhand fashion and home decor items, also known as “the Norwegian Vinted,” is popular with younger generations.
2.5 million users
eBay invested in Tise back in 2022 and is now acquiring the platform outright. With the acquisition, the American company aims to strengthen its position in the European consumer-to-consumer market. Tise has some 2.5 million registered users in Nordic countries, including more than one million in Norway.
The “app-only” platform presents itself as a social network where users can share and sell their stuff in a visual, community-driven way. That makes Tise popular with a young, environmentally conscious audience of millennials and Generation Z.
The acquisition is notable because five years ago eBay sold its European marketplaces, including 2dehands.be and marktplaats.nl, to focus on its core business.
