Fnac has been convicted for its role in the SFAM case, where consumers fell victim to fraudulent insurance practices. The French retail chain is considered partially responsible.
Responsible for partner choice
The retailer should not have collaborated with a fraudulent partner and is liable for that choice, a judge in Chartres ruled in the SFAM case. Between 2017 and 2019, Fnac offered SFAM’s insurance products in its stores. The company, now renamed Indexia, offers insurances for mobile phones and multimedia devices.
