To alleviate its high debt burden, DIY group Maxeda, owner of the Brico and Praxis chains, plans to sell (at least) ten stores in the Benelux to independent entrepreneurs.
Looking for 100 million euros
At a European works council meeting, Maxeda announced that the group will sell ten stores in the Benelux to independent entrepreneurs. These include four locations in the Netherlands, two in Luxembourg, and four in Belgium. No layoffs are expected as a result of this operation. However, after a special works council meeting in Belgium on Wednesday, it appears that the retailer wants to sell up to ten stores in the country to franchisees. The first four are expected to be privatized by February 2026, according to De Tijd and VRT.
