With its new flagship store in New York, Dior is setting a new standard in luxury retail. For the first time, LVMH brings together all of the luxury brand’s collections under one roof: from women’s and men’s clothing to beauty, jewellery and interior decoration. There is even an integrated spa.
Light and soft tones
The store spans four floors and was designed by renowned architect Peter Marino. Located on the corner of 57th Street and Madison Avenue, it has an absolute prime location that is just steps away from where Christian Dior opened his first American store in 1948. Moreover, just a short distance away is Louis Vuitton’s own flagship store.
Bathed in light and soft tones, the boutique showcases the different worlds of Dior: from womenswear and menswear to bags, shoes and accessories, from jewellery to watches, from perfumes to beauty. Each collection is presented in an environment with its own distinctive signature: creamy white and gold predominate in the women’s collection, while deep blue and gray give character to the men’s department. A special detail is Dior’s “Colorama”: a colourful wall with 485 designs by the fashion house, which winds like a rainbow along the stairs between the different floors.
In addition, the top floor houses the first Dior Spa on American soil, the first worldwide to be fully integrated into a Dior store. Artworks by Karine Laval, Jennifer Steinkamp, Niki de Saint Phalle, Robert Mapplethorpe and others enhance the luxurious character. An adjacent retail space with a separate entrance is dedicated to the Dior Maison collections.
