Game Mania has postponed its relaunch yet again: even on the third date it set, yesterday, the web shop did not reopen. When (and even, if) that will finally happen, is now anyone’s guess.
Third delay, future unsure
Game Mania was a major chain of game stores in Belgium and the Netherlands, but it went bankrupt late last year. In January, Dutch entrepreneur René van Tuijl said he would relaunch the game seller “in the second quarter of 2025” to continue as an online price breaker.
That deadline was not met: in early July, the retailer announced that both web shops would open on 31 July. A bit later, this second launch date was quietly postponed by two weeks.
And even that third time turned out not to be the right time after all: today the websites still say “On 13 August, we officially reopen – online and full of new energy”. When the web shops would actually open, is anyone’s guess. Owner Van Tuijl did not want to answer questions from Belgian newspaper HLN.
