Decathlon wants to take over the activities of French sports retailer Intersport in Spain, which filed for bankruptcy last year after a failed restructuring plan.
More than 120 stores
Decathlon notified the Spanish competition authority CNMC on December 31 of the acquisition of Intersport España, according to local media reports. The notification of the transaction marks the start of the first assessment phase, during which the CNMC has one month to make a decision. If a more in-depth analysis is required, the acquisition will proceed to a second phase, which can take three to four months.
