The French government has been unsuccessful in its lawsuit against Shein: the judge allows the e-commerce platform to remain online, despite “serious damage to the public order”. Despite the legal victory, part of the marketplace will remain closed for the time being.
Blocking not justified
The judge has rejected the French state’s request to temporarily block Shein. The Paris court acknowledges that the sale of illegal products via the platform has led to “serious damage to the public order,” but the judge considered a three-month suspension to be disproportionate. The Public Prosecutor’s Office had previously indicated that it would not support the government’s request.
