Retail sales in the eurozone rose slightly in August: on a monthly basis, there was an increase of just 0.1 %, while on an annual basis the increase was greater.
Slight increase
Statistics agency Eurostat reported today that total retail sales in the eurozone rose by 0.1 % in August, compared to the previous month. Analysts had indeed expected a slight increase, German Lebensmittel Zeitung reports. Compared to August last year, there was an increase of 1.0 %, but this was less than analysts had expected (+ 1.3 %).
