The Dutch department store chain De Bijenkorf, owned by Selfridges Group, is reorganizing to cope with “challenging market conditions.” This will result in the loss of 167 jobs, both in stores and at headquarters.
No disappointing sales
Earlier this week, De Bijenkorf had already announced that a restructuring was imminent, and on Friday the department store chain released more details: 110 jobs will be lost in the stores and 57 at the head office. At the same time, the retailer will create 41 new jobs. Today, 2,250 people still work at De Bijenkorf, in addition to another 2,200 people employed by other brands in the stores. All seven stores in the Netherlands will remain open.
