Ahold Delhaize’ s good quarterly results are partly due to strong performance of the retailer in the Benelux. CEO Frans Muller expressed happiness with Delhaize’s performance.
Market share gains in Flanders
With European net sales growing by 13.4% to 9.9 billion euros, Ahold Delhaize could be satisfied. This increase was of course largely due to the acquisition of Profi in Romania, but there was also a 4.9% increase in comparable sales. And that despite a negative impact of 1.6 percentage points due to the cessation of tobacco sales in supermarkets in the Netherlands and Belgium.
