In an open letter to the board of directors of The Magnum Ice Cream Company, the co-founders of Ben & Jerry’s, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, call for the ice cream brand to be separated from its parent company, which will soon go public.
“Silenced”
Unilever is currently spinning off its ice cream division, in preparation for an IPO this November. The new company, The Magnum Ice Cream Company, will own ice cream brands such as Cornetto, Magnum, Ola and Wall’s – but also Ben & Jerry’s. That is not to the liking of Cohen and Greenfield, who founded their brand at the time out of a mission to address social injustice.
