Ted Baker opens first Belgian store, with a flavour of Antwerp

British fashion brand Ted Baker has opened its first Belgian shop in Antwerp. For the interior, the brand was inspired by the history of the port city as a centre for diamonds.

Jewellery

The interior of the store was inspired by the discovery of jewels under the London branch of Ted Baker in 1912 and the role that the city of Antwerp plays in the diamond trade, Fashion United writes. The store concept contains numerous references to the precious stones.

At the location in London where the fashion brand now has a store, an important jewellery discovery was made in 1912, which was known as ‘The Cheapside Hoard’. More than 400 Elizabethan and Jacobin jewels were discovered that had been hidden in a chest for 300 years. They included earrings, rings, beads and other jewellery.

Inside the store is a large vault door with ‘Diamond Dozen Co.’ on it, and there is also a bank vault including a whole series of numbered vaults. Throughout the shop, several large ‘diamonds’ adorn the tables.
