Make your own pasta with a 3D printer

icon
Fashion19 May, 2015

From computer to plate

The formula is similar to a regular 3D printer: a computer will create a design, which is then sent to a 3D printer. Using semolina and water, it will create a pasta dough, which is then used to print the design. The resulting pasta can then be cooked and eaten.

This particular 3D printer is not publicly available yet and is only on show at the EXPO2015 in Milan. It does show that the limits of 3D printing have not yet been reached.

Italian Barilla owns several pasta brands and is also the world’s largest pasta manufacturer. It controls more than 40 % of the Italian market and about 25 % of the American pasta market.
