Fashion2 October, 2017

Berlin-based sneaker pioneer Solebox opened a store in the Anspachlaan in Brussels last Saturday. The exclusive sneakers are now being sold in a former bank location, the fifth European store in the chain.

Part of Deichmann

Solebox sells sneakers and streetwear in a web shop and a limited number of physical stores in major cities. The store in Brussels is only its fifth European store, after Berlin, Munich, Vienna and Amsterdam.

Every store is unique and has a design based on a specific theme. The Berlin store looks like an industrious warehouse and a robot is basically in charge. The “Solebot” retrieves the desired pair from the supplies, visible behind glass. In the Munich store, the sneakers are in an former wine cellar and the Vienna store looks like an art gallery. Amsterdam on the other hand is a laboratory. The Solebox store in Brussels looks like a bank, with vaults and security cameras, … This video clip is a showcase of what to expect.

Solebox, founded by the Sugör brothers in 2003 in Berlin, wanted to bring rare sneakers to Europe and quickly entered in exclusive collaborations with New Balance, Adidas, Reebok, Puma and others. It also organizes sneaker exchange meetings, called Solemart. Snipes, part of the world’s largest shoe group in the world Deichmann, acquired Solebox in 2013. Shoe chain vanHaren is also part of that same group.
