The anniversary edition of Scanmania turned out to be the most successful commercial promotion in the history of Carrefour Belgium. The winner of the 1-kg gold bar was announced on Tuesday evening.
“Strongest commercial asset”
Last month, Carrefour Belgium recorded a 20% increase in redeemed vouchers compared to last year’s anniversary promotion and a 75% increase compared to the Scanmania edition in May 2025. “This is a fantastic adventure for Carrefour in Belgium,” says Geoffroy Gersdorff, CEO of Carrefour Belgium. “In the current economic climate, our entire team has worked tirelessly to develop concrete solutions to support Belgian families’ purchasing power. Scanmania is our strongest commercial asset: we combine the best promotions and competitive prices with a unique experience for our customers.”
“Not only has participation grown, but our prize pool has also expanded to mark our 25th anniversary,” said Marketing Director Yannick de Bièvre. “Everyone who made it to the finals last night was already a winner, but with these gold grand prizes, we wanted to send an extra powerful message of appreciation to our loyal customers.”
20 finalists
During Tuesday evening’s finals in Antwerp, 20 customers from across the country competed against one another. In three qualifying rounds, they had to estimate the value of a shopping cart, guess the exact weight of a grocery bag by feel, and test their memory. The top three contestants had to navigate a maze filled with laser beams.
Nicolas, a customer at Carrefour Market La Bouverie, walked away with the 1-kilo gold bar, worth more than 110,000 euros. The second- and third-place finishers, Anky (a customer at the Hyper in Lier) and Anouk (a customer at Market Strombeek), each won a 50-gram gold bar worth over 5,000 euros. The remaining 17 finalists each received 500 euros in Carrefour gift cards.
