Following the management change at Ingka Group (the operator of most IKEA stores), now Inter IKEA (the owner and franchisor of the concept) is also getting a new CEO.

“More affordable, accessible and sustainable”

After a 20-year career at IKEA, Jon Abrahamsson Ring is passing the baton to Jakub Jankowski, currently still the managing director of IKEA Industry. He will take office as CEO of Inter IKEA Group on 1 January, 2026. The new CEO started at the home furnishings chain in Poland in 2001 and has since held executive positions in the Netherlands, Romania, Sweden and Switzerland.

“There is only one way to build success and continue to develop IKEA as the leader in life at home. And that is to do it together – with all parts of the value chain. I strongly believe in the IKEA direction and in continuing the work to make IKEA even more affordable, accessible and sustainable”, Jankowski said.

Numbers under pressure

Only a few weeks ago, IKEA announced that Jesper Brodin, CEO of Ingka Group, will be succeeded Spaniard Juvencio Maeztu on 5 November. He will then become the first non-Swedish person to head the company. Officially, there is no connection between the two management changes, but the fact is that sales and profits have been under pressure at the Swedish retailer for some time, due to price pressure and supply problems.

IKEA has a somewhat unusual corporate structure: Inter IKEA Systems is the owner of the concept and also the global franchisor, Ingka Group is the chain’s largest franchisee, accounting for nearly 90 % of all stores in 31 markets.
