[Update] Cyberattack: Bol and Bijenkorf customer data already for sale on the dark web

In a cyberattack on a logistics partner of Bol and Bijenkorf, customer data was stolen and is now being offered for sale on the dark web. The retailers are urging customers to be on the lookout for phishing attempts.

Extra vigilance required

As early as May, CEVA Logistics, a logistics service provider for Bol and de Bijenkorf, among others, was hit by a cyberattack in which customer data from both online stores was stolen. No sensitive data such as passwords or payment details was compromised, but names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and order information were stolen. News of the attack only came to light yesterday in press releases from both affected retailers, who have reported the data breach to the Dutch Data Protection Authority.

RTL Nieuws has discovered that the stolen personal data is already being offered for sale on the dark web. As a result, the retailers are urging their customers to be extra vigilant. Criminals could use the data to send phishing messages in the name of De Bijenkorf or Bol. Customers can visit the websites of both companies for more information.
