Freshii's Dutch start is in Rotterdam

Canadian Freshii recently launched its Dutch operations on the Korte Lijnbaan in Rotterdam. Its product range includes fresh snacks and meals, like green wraps, salads, quinoa-based dishes and juices.

Fourth European country

Previously, Freshii had a Dutch store, in Oranjestad (Aruba), but the Netherlands is its fourth European market, following Sweden, Ireland and Austria. The fast-service franchise formula has locations in 75 cities worldwide, across 15 countries like the United States, Panama, Mexico, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

With its “Eat. Energize” motto, Freshii offers a range of healthy snacks and meals, full of fibers or slow carbs, essential fats and low-fat proteins. Customers can compile their own green wraps, salads with brown rice, tofu or black beans and a topping of choice. They also have dishes with quinoa or rice noodles, soups like lemon grass broth, low-fat probiotic yogurt ice and freshly-squeezed juices.

Mission Green

Freshii has a “Mission Green”, which means that its employees do their utmost best to do whatever benefits Mother Nature. That means they avoid or lower the use of packaging, the use of energy or greasy meals. Most packages are made from environment-friendly oatmeal like corn or potato, biologically degradable or easily recyclable.

As the formula grows, the stores become smaller to limit the use of natural resources. None of the stores have energy-consuming dishwashers, cooker hoods, furnaces or ovens. Only environment-friendly, natural cleaning agents are used, while the company also uses online and mobile orders and paperless marketing.

Affordable and easily healthy

The very first Freshii opened its doors in Toronto in 2005 and founder Matthew Corrin wants to create a worldwide restaurant brand with healthy, affordable and easy-to-make dishes. The goal is to offer consumers on the go fresh and nutritional meals, to give them energy. The company puts an emphasis on products consumers should eat more often, like vegetables, and not as much on food they should avoid in the first place.

In 2013, Freshii was named “Top Franchise of the Year” in Canada, while Matthew Corrin has won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year and is one of Canada’s Top 40 under 40, while he is also in Inc Magazine’s Top 30 Under 30.
