Scotch & Soda closes all UK shops

Dutch fashion brand Scotch & Soda is to close all its British shops this summer. The new owner feels it is necessary to focus on the core markets.

First cutback

Two of the chain’s London stores only opened in September 2022, in Old Spitalfields Market and Covent Garden, but now they are already closing. The branches are currently having a clearance sale, as is the flagship store in Carnaby Street. The fourth British store, in London’s Westfield mall, already closed its doors earlier this month, trade magazine Drapers reports.

The decision to discontinue all British shops was made by new owner Bluestar Alliance, which rescued the chain from bankruptcy in March. The acquirer promised to continue operations in key markets, including the Netherlands, but it was already clear by then that downsizing would be necessary in other markets. The French and Belgian branches are owned by Belgian group GAB.
