After more than eight years, former CEO Peter Isaac has fully concluded his involvement with Jumbo Belgium. Following the handover to Anrico Maat, he continued to serve as a strategic advisor to the retailer for some time, but that chapter has now come to an end as well.
Former CEO looks back with pride
“Earlier this year, I handed over my responsibilities as Managing Director and remained involved for some time as a Strategic Advisor. That period has now also come to an end,” Isaac posted on LinkedIn. “I look back with great gratitude on the people I had the privilege of working with, the trust I was given, and everything we achieved together.”
Isaac, who previously worked at Lidl in Belgium, launched Jumbo on the Belgian market in 2019. “Together with an exceptional team, we expanded the organization to 44 stores and nearly €500 million in revenue by the end of 2025. It’s an achievement I look back on with pride and, above all, great appreciation.” It’s not yet clear what the former CEO will do next: in the coming years, he wants to “guide companies, further develop people and organizations, and translate strategy into concrete results from a position of ultimate responsibility.”
Successor meets with franchisees from other chains
In March of this year, Anrico Maat took office as the new director for Belgium. He sees considerable potential for Jumbo in the country: “Our business model aligns well with the somewhat Burgundian character of the Belgian consumer, for whom price is very important, but so are the product assortment, service, and local connection. It’s the combination of these factors that sets us apart, ”he said recently in an interview with RetailDetail. He says he’s been having quite a few cups of coffee with franchisees from other organizations, who recognize that Jumbo offers a solid revenue model.
