[In the picture] Jumbo Golf aims to be Belgium’s most hospitable specialty golf shop

Jumbo Golf’s first Belgian location opened in Stekene over a year ago. Now that the Dutch parent company has gotten to know and understand Belgian golfers better, the store is ready for a “Grand Opening.”

Technical knowledge and expertise

In addition to its well-known supermarkets, Jumbo also operates specialty sports stores: the independently operated Jumbo Sports division has 12 stores, 10 of which are in the Netherlands and 2 in Belgium. The retailer’s first Belgian hockey store opened earlier this year in Aartselaar. The first golf store, in Stekene, has been open for a year but is only now holding its official opening, as the company wanted to take the time to fully understand the market.

“All of Flanders should get to know us. We want to be the most welcoming golf specialty store in Belgium. We know the sport like no one else, have a wealth of technical knowledge and expertise, and it makes us happy when a customer is able to make the right choice after careful consideration,” say company leaders Theo van Veen and Gilles Pieters.

Wesley Sonck as ambassador

Former international football player and avid golfer Wesley Sonck plays a leading role in the store’s marketing efforts. “I was already familiar with the concept online, but I hadn’t been to the store yet. It looks fantastic. For a specialty golf shop, the store is nice and spacious. They have a wonderful selection of golf gear here, presented in a clear and organized way. And what really impressed me is the fitting service. Gilles really knows his stuff. He recommended equipment that genuinely surprised me.”

The store, which is open six days a week, is celebrating its Grand Opening throughout the month of October. “On Fridays and Saturdays, we’ll be treating customers to snacks and drinks. We also have a nice surprise for every customer.” There are attractive discounts on shoes, balls, and gloves. Customers can trade in their old clubs for a nice discount on new ones.

Growth of nearly 25% “proves that Pop Mart is more than just Labubu”

Pop Mart, the Chinese company behind gadgets such as Labubu, posted a 23.8% increase in revenue in the first half of 2026. The group is particularly proud of this achievement, as there had been fears that the retailer itself would fade away along with the Labubu hype.
