Van Eerd appeals conviction: “the Public Prosecutor made a mess of it”

The appeal by former Jumbo CEO Frits van Eerd started off with a heated clash between his new attorneys and the Public Prosecutor’s Office. The defense argues that crucial documents are missing and wants to significantly expand the investigation. Van Eerd is thus challenging his two-year prison sentence.

During a pretrial hearing in the appeal on Tuesday, Van Eerd’s new lawyers launched a fierce attack on the Public Prosecutor’s Office. In August 2025, the court sentenced the former Jumbo CEO to two years in prison for non-official bribery, forgery, and money laundering, but his attorney calls the case file “a mess.”
